1. Who are we and what is this platform?

We (UNICO.ai CZ, s.r.o., business registration number: 06118313) are a Czech IT company that aims at improving cooperation between universities and businesses. We want this cooperation to be efficient, transparent and beneficial for researchers, universities, entrepreneurs and the society at large. As one of our contributions towards this goal we have created this smart platform: a database in which everyone may search for experts with relevant focus and expertise. The database is based largely on public data and on data provided for this purpose by researchers and universities.

2. What regulates the use of this platform?

This document sets out basic rights and obligations that you and us need to follow while using this platform. You accept to follow them by continuing to use the platform.

If you would like to know how do we process personal data, you may find further information in our Privacy Policy. If you want to find out more about our products, services, their content and their prices, you may find them in our Product List.

Issues that are not directly explicitly mentioned in any of these documents are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic. If you have any problems while using the platform, please contact us. If we do not manage to settle our disputes by agreement, it will be decided by the courts of the Czech Republic.

3. What services do we provide?

We provide you services based on the package (subscription) that you choose. We offer a simple package for free that allows you to try our platform out. Additional (premium) services are available for a monthly or yearly fee. You may find more details on what services each package includes and how much it costs in our Product List.

You may use premium services only if you pay the fee. Once the subscription period is over, you may use only the services that we provide for free.

If you want to use any of the packages (our services), you have to create an account. For that you have to provide us with correct information about you and your activities. For the provision of certain services (such as personalisation) we also need your consent to us processing your data in a particular way; you may find more details on this issue in our Privacy Policy.

We are committed to gradually improving our services. That is why the platform and these Terms and Conditions may change from time to time. We will always notify you about any significant changes we make. If you continue using the platform after a change took effect, we take it is an acceptance of the change. If do not agree with the change and consider it substantial, you may terminate your subscription and we will give you back your fee for the remaining prepaid period.

4. What quality of services do we guarantee?

We want the services to run as smoothly and reliably as possible. However, that is not always possible due to technical problems, maintenance, upgrades or similar issues. We commit ourselves to the following availability of our services:[doplnit]

If we do not stand up to our commitment, we will compensate you for our failure by providing you with a discount on your next payment. If you believe that there was a failure for which you should be compensated, contact us within a week after its occurrence; we cannot compensate you if you let us know later.

However, there are some events that are out of our control and for which we cannot take any responsibility. Such events include, without limitation, your illegal or abusive behaviour, network unavailability, terrorist or cyber attacks, wars and other force majeure events.

We will inform you via email in advance if we know that there is going to be a service outage (e.g. in case of a scheduled maintenance).

5. How do we treat your data?

You may choose whether each category of your data should be treated as public or private.

Public data may be displayed to other platform users. Such data may include e.g. your research outcomes that you would like to be associated with.

We will not allow other users to see the data that you label as private. We may, however, use such data for improving our algorithms; in doing so, we take all measures to prevent other users from reconstructing your private data from their search results.

6. How do we protect your data and our platform?

7. Do we grant each other some licences?

We grant you a non-exclusive licence to use the platform and its services based on your subscription for the subscription period. You may not assign the licence or grant a sublicence without our prior approval.

We retain all our rights in the software, algorithms, know-how, graphics etc. that form part of the platform. The platform is protected by the copyright laws and other intellectual property laws of the Czech Republic and by applicable international copyright treaties.

As a user you can submit your own content on your profile (e.g. scientific articles). When you do so, you agree and represent that you have created that content, you are its owner, or you have received the relevant permission. You or the owner of the content still own the copyright in the submitted content, but by submitting it to the platform, you are granting us a non-exclusive licence to use your content for improving the cooperation between academia and businesses.

You acknowledge and agree that when you post content on your profile, you are doing so at your own discretion and risk, including any reliance on the accuracy or completeness of that content.

10. Can we close you account?

Yes, we may, at our sole discretion, close your account if you seriously violate these terms and conditions. If you break our rules only lightly, we will tell you about that and ask you to be good.

11. What to do if you do not want to use the platform anymore?

You may close your account at any time. If you close your account, you will not be able to use our services. If you close your account before the end of your subscription period we will not refund you for the unused time.
